Duane & Norma Engelby - 3621 Briggs Woods Rd., Stanhope, IA The Engelbys hung a LeMoyne Star on their barn south of Stanhope. Several family members helped to paint the design, and a grandson helped hang it.
The barn was constructed in 1908 to house livestock, mainly for milking operation and to shelter the herd. It is constructed of wood. Today the barn is used for storage of straw and wood. The Engelbys have owned the acreage on which the barn sits for twenty-five years.
Duane and Norma have lived on the place since 1953. The wonderful old barn is the only original building there. It still contains the old milking stanchions.
