Over the course of the last ten years Hamilton County has seen tremendous growth in new home construction. Nearly one hundred new homes  have been built in the nine Hamilton County communities. This has been encouraged by a tax abatement program offered by each community. Information on the tax abatement can be obtained from the City Clerk in each community or from the County Auditor's office.
 Hamilton County S.E.E.D. can assist individuals or couples purchase their first home through a low interest program which helps qualified applicants borrow money for a downpayment.
A project is currently underway to assist property owners rehabilitate the second story of downtown buildings for use as apartments. This project will help fill the existing gap for rental units.
 The Stratford community offers an assisted living facility of twenty apartment units. Webster City is foll owing suit with one facility underway and plans for a second in the discussion stage.
Ellsworth, Stanhope, Stratford and Williams all offer subsidized housing for senior citizens.
