Charlene McKee & children Mike McKee & Mary Byrne - 2749 Briggs Woods Rd., Webster City, IA The quilt was a surprise given to her by her children. It is copied from an antique quilt of Charlene’s.

The barn was built about McKeeBarnQuilt1890, and has been in the family since Maynard F. McKee purchased it around 1930. Its original function was as a horse barn, but today it is used for storage of machinery and hay. It was constructed with 8x8 beams that probably came from old wooden river bridges off the nearby Boone River. Hogs were farrowed in the barn between its use for horses and storage. Four generations of McKee family children have played in and been intrigued by the small hay mow.
