Mike and Pat Ratske- 3131 240th St, Williams, IA Mike and Pat Ratske have lived on their farm for 26 years, and Mike’s grandparents lived there fifteen+ years before them. A number of relatives lived on the farm before the Ratskes. Mike’s great-grandfather oversaw the construction of the home on the farm. In addition, one of Mike’s great aunts was born on the farm.
The quilt is placed on the south side of the farm’s corn crib. The name of the pattern is North Star. They worked with their daughter’s boyfriend to incorporate the red, white, black and grey colors into the pattern. It was after the barn quilt was completed that they realized they had selected the colors of Massey Ferguson – the same colors of the Massey Ferguson implement business that Mike and his dad operate.
