Steve & Jan Carlson - 1495 390th St., Stratford, IA Steve Carlson’s grandparents, Roy & Clarice Carlson, purchased the farm in the early 1950’s. Steve’s parents lived on the farm until Steve and Jan moved there with their young family in the early 1980’s.
As far as Steve can tell, the barn was built at the turn of the century with the sides added and/or replaced sometime later. The barn is the oldest building on the farm. It was originally constructed as 8x8 using native lumber and wooden pegs. It has been used for livestock and hay over the years including cattle, dairy cows, pigs, horses and chickens. Today it is used for cattle and hay.
