 Stanhope Enjoy a slice  of the good life! Stanhope is located in north central Iowa in Hamilton County on Iowa Highway 17, thirteen miles south of Webster City. Motorists traveling along this north/south state highway will be greeted by two new entrance billboards. The signs feature the town slogan "A Slice of the Good Life" and picture a large watermelon slice; a tribute to the annual town celebration. This community of 450 people is home to a locker renowned for its meat processing.
Stanhope offers small town living for those folks giving priority to the quality of life. It is less than thirty minutes from Ames, home of Iowa State University, and one hour from Des Moines. The proximity to the city makes Stanhope an appealing place to live.

 Community Activities Summer is an active time for the community, with Wednesday Night in the Park, summer playgrounds and many summer evening baseball and softball games held in the City Park. Wednesday Night in the Park is an evening filled with local entertainment, good food, and an opportunity to visit with your friends and neighbors, and don’t forget about Watermelon Day each July.
 Education Stanhope is one of four towns in the South Hamilton School District. The school is in Jewell, located eight miles to the east. A 5.4 million-dollar renovation in 2000 makes the school an appealing place to educate your children. The school serves K-12 students, offering a broad range of academics, sports and music opportunities.
Community Assets A range of community services meet the needs of local residents. Two churches are located within this community, the Stanhope Parish and Our Saviours Lutheran Church. A community building houses the city office, the public library and a large meeting room equipped with kitchen facilities.
