Dirk and Lori Westrum - 1355 360th Street, Stratford, IA Selection of the quilt pattern was a family decision. It is called Summer Star Flower. Dirk’s uncle, Verlyn Westrum, played in the hay loft as a child. He tells of the time he fell and broke his arm.
The barn was built in 1918 by Lorandis Lund. The main structure is built with wooden pegs. The Westrum family has owned the acreage since 1991. The original use of the barn was to house hay and grain for cattle and horses. Livestock continue to board on the lower level - cattle, hogs and miniature donkeys. Hay is still kept in the loft.
